Frequently Asked Questions

How long does my application appointment take?

Service duration is APPROX 2 hours. Rushed service can’t be offered, as this application is tedius and delicate. Set- up & take down are considerably laborious. Please keep this in mind.

Which lash style should I choose?

PULCHRA ONLY OFFERS LASH EXTENSION STYLES THAT ARE SAFE FOR THE NATURAL LASH AND LAST 3 WEEKS AT MINIMUM.

There are 2 different base styles offered. We will go into specific styles and your preferences during your appointment.

The base and basics of the types of styles we offer are - NATURAL & VOLUME SIGNATURE.

You also have the option to change your selection, at your appointment.

How long will my lash extensions last?

In general, clients lash sets typically last 3-4 weeks minimum without needing a touch up.

There really isn't a set answer to this question. Lots of factors can affect how long your lash extensions will last. Great lash retention is dependent on your natural lash growth pattern, your skin type, and the set you have (Natural Set, Volume Specialty Set).  I have some clients with lashes that grow very fast and they prefer touch ups more frequently. I also have clients who have slower growth and I see them once a month or longer.

So unfortunately, there isn't a definite answer I can provide as it's on a case by case basis.

Will Lash Extensions Damage My Natural Lashes?

The idea that lash extensions damage your natural lashes or cause them to become thinner or shorter with continued wear is a common fear and a huge misconception. When lash extensions are applied properly, meaning the thickness of the extension isn’t too heavy for your natural lash to support, they are not much longer than and each extension is carefully applied to one lash at a time, you will not see a difference in the health of your natural lashes regardless of how long you wear lash extensions. To further validate my point, I keep a record of each clients natural lashes in their chart. Natural lash health is important. The healthier the natural lashes, the better the extension set.

Your natural eyelashes are in a constant cycle of growing and shedding which is less noticeable without lash extensions because your natural lashes tend to be shorter, lighter in color and fine in texture. However, when lash extensions are applied, your lashes appear darker, more curly and fuller which makes it more noticeable when they shed.

Also, you get used to seeing yourself with the lash extensions. So once they’re removed, it may seem like you have significantly less lashes but it’s only because you’ve grown used to seeing lash extensions.

How Often Do I Need A Full Set?

Due to Pulchra’s specialist-applied lash sets having amazing retention, several clients never have the need for a full set. The control of having a new full set or a touch-up is at your own discretion. Full sets are only required when you’ve lost 50% or more of your eyelash extensions. Below is a reference to use when in doubt.

Can I get them wet?

Pulchra only uses expert-level professional products. Our top-quality adhesive is both water and oil proof. In addition, 2-3 other sealants are applied during your service to protect against any dirt or buildup that may get on your eyes.

What would make eyelash extensions unsuitable for me?

RECENT EYE INJURY OR SURGERY

If you have recently undergone surgery such as but not limited to LASIK eye surgery OR had any accidents that have caused injury to the eye such as but not limited to a black eye, popped blood vessels or corneal abrasions. You must wait until your injury is completely healed to be serviced.

UNDERGOING CHEMOTHERAPY OR HAVE UNDERGONE CHEMO IN LESS THAN SIX MONTHS

If you have completed chemotherapy treatment, it’s best to wait 6 months before having lash extensions applied due to the adjustments happening within the body.

HORMONAL IMBALANCES

Although lash extensions are applied using a durable, medical-grade adhesive, major hormonal imbalances that cause hair-loss or any medications that could affect hair growth aren’t compatible with eyelash extensions. In addition, if you are taking hair growth supplements, keep in mind that this may also effect the growth of your natural lashes. It can lead to needing touch-ups more frequently than usual.

TRICHOTILLOMANIA

People who have trichotillomania have an irresistible urge to pull out their hair, usually from the scalp, eyelashes, and eyebrows. This will cause damage but you can’t control the impulse. You may pull out your hair when stressed, as a way to try to soothe yourself. Pulling out eyelashes can lead to permanent damage and for that reason, lash extensions aren’t recommended.
